MiCare Platform

The MiCare Project was launched in December 2019 with the goal of providing training for migrants who are interested in caregiving. The project was targeting two social issues, the ageing population of the EU and thus the increasing need for caregivers and the migration issue that has been intensified in the last years
within EU member states with migrants facing issues of marginalisation. This project's objective was to help migrants with either previous experience in caregiving or the ones interested in getting into the specific field as means of integration and employing their skills in the specific sector.

To do that the partners initiated a number of activities and outputs to fulfil the objectives. Specifically a Research and a State of the art-report on the requirements of the countries, the sector and required knowledge for caregivers, a Train the Trainers module and finally an online educational platform for both Trainers and Trainees. This platform is the final output of the project and carries all the educational material produced for the project and interactive training modules for trainees.

The Online Platform (and Toolkit) provides networking opportunities between relevant labour market actors, migrants, and contains a basic caregiver toolkit. The toolkit is available in all partner languages, English, Greek, Spanish, German and Italian. The design of this fully functional Online Platform was based on user requirements analysis for optimum design of the user interface and the training modules.

The online platform will be available throughout Europe, connecting migrants, employers and other relevant actors. This will offer the opportunity to users/migrants to be informed about job opportunities in all EU countries, consequently migrants who have already attended the training course on caregiving provided by the project will be able to search for a job in another European country.

Through the platform a European and International network of partners will be created, encouraging the creation of synergies and the implementation of additional measures throughout Europe in order to address the increasing needs of Europe in the labour market and encourage the smooth integration of migrants in the local societies.

Trainees who register on the platform will have a flexible training program accessible from wherever they are due the flexibility provided by the technology and fulfil all required modules in their own pace.

The three main modules are Language, Caregiving and Skill Enhancement. Participants will use this material as a stepping stone for acquiring the basic knowledge before taking the practical course and acquiring the caregiving certificate.
