Welcome to Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Network Scheme

 What is NNS all about?

The aim of Neighbourhood Network Schemes (known as NNS) in Birmingham is to support adults (aged over 18) who have current and potential need of social and health care services, to lead healthy, happy and independent lives in their own homes and communities.

This includes adults aged between 18 to 49 who have long term health conditions including mental health, people who experience impairment such as visual impairment, hearing or learning disability and citizens who identify as disabled people, carers and older people (aged 50+) who have social and health care needs.

Birmingham City Council (BCC) has developed and funds NNS as part of an innovative approach to social care for adults, based on Asset Based Community Development principles (ABCD) and the 'three conversations' model of social care support.

BCC fund 10 locality based NNS schemes that make up a collective network across the city. The network is supported by Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC).

Sutton Coldfield NNS

Sutton Coldfield NNS is managed and delivered by a partnership of two lead organisations, Age Concern Birmingham and Compass Support. Between the two organisations we employ a team of six people who support local not-for-profit groups, organisations and services which are referred to as community assets. Sutton Coldfield NNS also work very closely with Sutton Coldfield Town Council, Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust and the North Birmingham Locality NHS Partnership and a wide range of other strategic and grass-roots organisations, from food banks to faith organisations and from sports associations to veteran groups.

The aim of NNS is to carry out ongoing mapping of both social and health care needs in our constituency and also to identify, develop and support the community assets who are currently or have potential to offer services to meet this identified local need.

Sutton Coldfield NNS strives to support the development of individual assets, whilst also building and sustaining a local network of assets, stakeholders and partnerships.
