Peer Mentoring and Mental Health Champions service

We are now accepting referrals for our new peer mentoring scheme, we are looking to support individuals aged 16-25 years old who fall into one of/all the following protective characteristics- Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnicities and/or LGBT+ and/or disabled communities.

Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnicities and/or LGBT+ and/or disabled communities (including those who are neurodivergent and with long term mental health issues) are disadvantaged due to lack of interventions within their communities and not being able to access services that can offer the help they need. The Peer Mentoring and Mental Health Champions service aims to provide bespoke support to young people from these communities to help them overcome challenges that they may face.

The Peer Mentors will be supporting mentees with their mental wellbeing over the course of up to 20 weeks; providing support and guidance that is tailored to the individual mentee and their needs.

Examples of issues that the peer mentors can support with include:

•            Reducing anxiety

•            Improving self-esteem and confidence

•            Exploring sense of self and identity

If you know of any individuals who would benefit from our service; please contact the Mentoring Scheme Coordinator on peermentoring@ourplacesupport.org
