Carers' Small Grants Programme

Anna Lockley-Scott is the contact at Forward Carers for the Carers' Small Grants Programme.

Through the programme, unpaid Carers can access £500 grants available for group and social activities. The programme is provided in partnership with the Neighbourhood Network Scheme (NNS), who are asked to approve the grants for local carers in our area (Sutton Coldfield).

In the run up to the festive period, we are asking local partners to promote this opportunity for the unpaid carers in Sutton Coldfield before the fund runs out.

Carer Definition for this Fund: A Carer is an adult, who looks after a family member, partner, or friend requiring help due to illness, frailty, disability, mental health concerns, or addiction and who cannot cope without their support.

Applicant Eligibility:

·                  Any unpaid Carer aged over 18 who lives in Birmingham and is registered with Birmingham Carers Hub.

·                  The funded group must include a minimum of four unpaid Carers

·                  Activities or groups should bring together unpaid Carers and meet at least two of the following criteria:

o        Provide fun and social activities for unpaid Carers

o        Respond to local needs

o        Offer opportunities currently unavailable to Carers

o        Cater to Carers from LGBTQI+ backgrounds

o        Be a one-off or a series of activities, as long as they fit within the budget

o        Application Process:

Carers apply online via a simple application form here - https://forward1.grantplatform.com/

Once Forward Carers receive an application, it will be shared with the relevant NNS (Sutton Coldfield in our area) for approval via a very simple review form.

Forward Carers aim to get funds out to Carers within two weeks of their application.

We look forward to supporting the wonderful initiatives particularly as we approach the festive season that will bring much-needed social and wellbeing benefits to Carers in the community.
