Equality,
Inclusion and Diversity Training for community assets in Sutton Coldfield
SCNNS is
seeking to engage a training organisation to deliver an introduction to and
oversight of equality, inclusion and diversity practice and awareness. To cover
the following topics:
· Definitions of equality, inclusion,
diversity and discrimination
· Key values and principles of equality
and inclusion – why is it important for our organisations and services?
· Overview of the Equality Act 2010
including the 9 protected characteristics – our legal duties.
· Overview of policies and procedures –
the carrot and stick approach – encouraging good practice and protecting people
from discrimination
· Development of an organisational plan
/ self-audit tool to explore what we do well and what is needed to improve
The training
will offer an introductory overview to raise understanding of these issues in
one or two morning or afternoon sessions. Outcomes of the training:
· Community assets have a good
understanding of equality and inclusion issues including general good practice
and legal duties
· Community assets will have tools and
resources to improve and develop their services
The trainer
will identify gaps in participant understanding and review priority training
needs for the future, which might include:
o
Disability
access auditing
o
Cultural
and faith awareness
o
LGBT
and trans-gender awareness
o
Anti-discrimination
in race issues
o
Anti-discrimination
in sex and gender issues
o
Working
with older people
We are
inviting expressions of interest from established training organisations in
Birmingham which have a track record in supporting community groups in equality
issues. We would expect a basic training plan covering the above outcomes and
offering a mix of presentation and workshop methods that are themselves
accessible, non-jargonistic and engaging.
The cost of
a training venue, marketing and refreshments will be met by NNS, we would ask
the provider to quote for the time and expenses of the trainer(s) and hand-out
materials.
If your organisation is interested in delivering a 1 day introduction to and oversight of equality, inclusion and diversity practice and awareness to community organisations in Sutton Coldfield (can consider a split package of 2 half day sessions), please email Pete Millington, SCNNS manager with a quotation and details of the proposed training and availability.
