As the world looks
forward to the FIFA World Cup hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, a
tournament that will unite nations through the power of football, we are proud
to launch our own Refugee World Cup here in the West Midlands.
As
part of Refugee Week 2026, Bosnia & Herzegovina UK Network will bring
together up to 16 national teams representing refugee and migrant communities
from across the region. More than a football tournament, this event is a
celebration of friendship, belonging, resilience and the positive contribution
that refugees make to our communities.
For
the Bosnian community, football played a vital role in helping us integrate
into British society after arriving in the UK during the 1990s. It helped build
friendships, overcome isolation and create opportunities as families rebuilt
their lives. Through the Refugee World Cup, we want to share that same
opportunity with others.
Football
has a unique ability to bring people together, break down barriers and create
lasting connections. Delivered in partnership with Birmingham City Council and
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, this tournament will showcase the
strength of our diverse communities and remind us that, whatever our journey,
we all belong on the same team.
⚽🌍 Join us as we celebrate unity,
diversity and the power of sport to change lives.
