Disability Pride Disco and Parade – Friday 24th July 2026, 10.30am
– 1.00pm
Every July, people around the world come together to celebrate Disability Pride Month – a time to honour disabled identity, culture, and the long history of activism that has shaped disability rights today.
Our event takes inspiration from one of the biggest and longest‑running
Disability Pride Parades in the world, founded in Chicago in 2004. Chicago’s
parade is known for its joyful mix of music, bold fashion, homemade banners,
street‑party energy and its roots in the city’s iconic 90s/00s house and rave
culture. That spirit of colour, sound, pride and community is exactly what
we’re bringing to Sense this year.
For 16+ Disabled People with complex needs, and their
friends, families and supporters
🪩10:30-11:30: Disco settling-in Snacks,
music and a relaxed start as everyone arrives and gets into the spirit.
🪩11:30-12:00: Parade around TouchBase Pears! A
short, vibrant and fun parade around the building.
🪩12:00-13:00: Disability Pride Disco Music,
movement, performances and celebration with DJs and performers.
