What Are Neighbourhood Network Schemes?
The Neighbourhood Network Scheme in Sutton Coldfield is delivered through a partnership of two local organisations, Age Concern Birmingham and Compass Support. Sutton Coldfield is celebrated for its pleasant environment and strong sense of local pride, yet the constituency also has underlying priorities around the social care of our citizens, such as having the highest proportion of people aged over 65 in Birmingham (23.7% of Sutton’s population are aged 65+ compared to the Birmingham average of 12.9%).
Neighbourhood Network Schemes (NNSs) are designed to support older people in Birmingham to connect with individuals, groups, organisations, activities, services and places in their local neighbourhood. Every NNS constituency has a small grants scheme to enable the voluntary and community sector to run activities that support older adults. The NNS teams identify all the community activity and services which can support people who are 50+.
