BVSC (Birmingham Voluntary Service Council), DRC (Disability Resource Centre), and Salus Fatigue Foundation have formed a Partnership to develop a new service to support working women with hormonal health issues to stay in the workplace, and to support unemployed women with hormonal health issues to re-join the workforce.

Our aspiration is that every woman of working age who needs support with their hormonal health receives it in a timely and accessible way that is personal to them. At the Launch we will discuss what is hormonal health: talking around the menstrual cycle with the main focus on perimenopause and menopause. The Project will also explore how to support trans men and non-binary people who experience similar hormonal health issues.

Through the project we want to ensure every woman of working age who needs support will be empowered through better understanding of their reproductive and post-reproductive health needs. Individuals will be enabled to speak and be heard, to inform and influence policy to create future change in hormonal health support.

A key aspect of our approach will be to encourage workplaces to develop a culture which is more accepting and supportive for women with hormonal health issues. By developing an Employer Pledge we hope to support employers in making women feel confident in applying for employment where their health and well-being will be prioritised.

Come along to the in-person Launch Event, where you will hear more about the project, and have the opportunity to interactive as individuals, organisations, and employers. This is an opportunity to be part of a conversation that will help shape the Project. We will explore how you can be involved to influence and inform policy, and create future change in hormonal health support across Birmingham and Solihull, and nationally.

The Project is funded until 2025 by the The Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Health and Wellbeing Fund - a joint initiative run by the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and the UK Health Security Agency. The theme of the fund for 2022 to 2025 is women’s reproductive wellbeing in the workplace and links in with the development of the new Women’s Health Strategy.
